"If you were to discover that your closest friend was a heroin dealer, what would you do?"

Hello everyone! Happy Noreaster!  If you are smart enough to call into work today, you are probably sitting around in your cozy jammies looking outside your window at the beautiful, but annoying snow.

Every week I promised to post a thought provoking question from the book, "The Book of Questions."  I love these questions!!  They really make you go, "Uummmmm".......Plus, it gives me a reason to write! And,,,I love to write!  So here goes, and I really hope you post your response on my blog.  It is a lot of fun to see everyone's different point of view.  If you were to discover that your closest friend was a heroin dealer, what would you do?

  1. I can argue all sides of this dilemma..and from personal experience...walk away. Walk far away. Don't look back. Walk so far away that you forget their name.

Once a person decides to entertain the heroin-dealing profession...they are already committed to their own downward-spiral. When one is in "the game" they cannot be stopped.

Option #1 TALK TO THEM. (hmm maybe they will see the light)

It's like trying to tell Tigger not to bounce anymore. If you try to reason with them, your words will fall on deaf ears. There is nothing you will tell them that they don't already "know".

Option #2 TELL THE POLICE. (omg this person could be giving kids drugs!!)

Sadly, the kids that get the drugs..will keep on getting them. As our futile attempt to wage the war on drugs has proven...where there's a will, there's a way. Taking out the dealer doesn't stop the cards from being dealt, one simply moves to another table. Worried about your kids?? Step up and be a parent, be involved in their lives and know what they are doing. Worried about someone else's kids?? I'm sorry, but you can't save the world. Tell that kid's parents, and you will end up with the wrong side of a bad situation pointed right at you. After all, "Not My Kid" still rules the majority.

And the police. No. Don't. (I am a bit biased here, I admit it...I despise snitches and have held myself to a never-snitch code) Just refer to the idea of the war on drugs. The close friend will be caught in time, and put in jail. There, he or she will learn more ways to make money..in not-so-good ways. They've tasted the fast dollar..as a vampire has tasted blood. It's unstoppable. (Unless you read Twilight, which by the way, I love ;)

FYI The Department of Corrections is not known as that...it is lovingly tagged as the Department of Connections. Like a big playground full of bullies, it breeds a smarter, stronger, more diverse product. And that product will be back on the streets in no time. Only to go through the whole entire process again...until they are 50 and finally get a life sentence.

Option # 3 IMPLEMENT AN OLD-SCHOOL-BEAT-DOWN (I so wanna beat the ever-loving sh*t out of him/her...how could they be doing this..are they that stupid?)

Yes, they are that stupid. The only person that will end up in hancuffs is..you.) Unless you...never mind. (Insert diabolical plan that you dream about occasionally here.)

    Option #4 WALK AWAY (F*ck This Sh*t!!!)

My personal favorite and proven-to-be-effective decision.

Option #5 STAY FRIENDS (I can't leave my friend. The guilt will swallow me whole!! I could help, I know I could!)

Similar to Option #1...they won't want to be around you anyway. You're not buying heroin. The days of good times are well gone. Get over it and move on.

Lol..Jill..okay...can I swear in here?? It's hard for me to write and not cuss!!! Thank you for keeping up on the questions :)
